Understanding Relief ACP Oral Care Gel

By Dr. Gregg M. Festa, DDS

Precautions Before Use of a Sensitivity-relief Product

If you experience regular sensitivity in your teeth – each time you eat or drink something sour, or take in a breath of cold air – your first course of action is to visit your dentist. There are several potential causes for your sensitivity, some of which are serious problems that need to be addressed. For instance, your sensitivity could be caused by:

  • gingivitis
  • tooth decay
  • improper brushing techniques.relief acp oral care gel packaging

It is best to first eliminate the root cause of your sensitivity before reaching for a relief product.

What is Relief ACP?

The “ACP” in the product name stands for “amorphous calcium phosphate,” a proprietary blend from Philips Oral Healthcare that is designed to provide safe relief to sensitive teeth. Relief ACP is primarily included in other Zoom take-home products, such as Nite White and Day White whitening kits, though it is available for purchase on its own. The active ingredients in the gel are:

  • Potassium nitrate (5%) – provides the instant sensitivity relief
  • ACP & Fluoride – rebuild tooth enamel

Instructions for Use

Prior to Use

  • Brush and floss your teeth thoroughly
  • Keep gel away from eyes
  • Do not swallow gel

  • Remove trays and spit out any excess gel
  • Do not eat, drink, or rinse for 30 minutes

Brush Method –
